“Jingle All the Way does what all great Christmas records ought to -- keep the essence of the underlying songs while bringing out something new and unexpected to make them fresh and worth another listen.” -– Associated Press
Led by the premiere banjo player in the world, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones have created a genre all their own, fusing jazz and bluegrass into a unique and award-winning sound they dub “blu-bop.” Frontman Béla Fleck first assembled the group in 1989, and they have since earned a devoted following, receiving 18 Grammy Awards and performing for 500,000 people yearly. The Flecktones (featuring Victor Wooten, Future Man, and Jeff Coffin) return to Eugene after a 7 year hiatus on their "Holiday Tour", a program that highlights songs from their 2009 Grammy Award-winning holiday album Jingle All The Way. Tunes include a sparkling banjo-harmonic arrangement of “Christmas Time is Here", a fiery rendition of “Sleigh Ride” as well as classic Flecktones favorites. The concert also features the Tuvan throat singing ensemble Alash.
